    • NEW MATERIAL:A liquid crystal compound of formulaI(R is 2W8C alkyl or alkenyl; R' is 2W8C alkyl or alkenyl).
      EXAMPLE: 4'-n-Butyryloxyphenyl-trans-4-n-propylcyclohexanecarboxylate.
      USE: A material for a liquid crystal display element having the following properties: (1) A wide nematic temperature range loated on a high temperature side. (2) No part for cutting off ultraviolet light is required since the compound is colorless, transparent and chemically stable. (3) Low viscosity and rapid response. (4) Slight change in threshold voltage with temperature and improved multiplex driving property.
      PROCESS: A trans-4-alkylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid of formula II is reacted with thionyl chloride to give a compound of formula III, which is then reacted with an alkylcarbonyl chloride of formula IV to afford a compound of formula V. The resultant compound of formula V is then reacted with the compound of formula III in the presence of pyridine to give the compound of formulaI.

    • 新材料:式I的液晶化合物(R为2-8C烷基或烯基; R'为2-8C烷基或链烯基)。 实施例:4'-正丁氧基苯基 - 反-4-正丙基环己烷羧酸酯。 用途:具有以下性质的液晶显示元件用材料:(1)在高温侧滞留的宽向列温度范围。 (2)由于化合物无色透明化学稳定,无需切断紫外线的部位。 (3)粘度低,响应快。 (4)温度阈值电压略有变化,提高了多路驱动特性。 方法:将式II的反式-4-烷基环己烷羧酸与亚硫酰氯反应,得到式III化合物,然后与式IV的烷基羰基氯反应,得到式V化合物。所得的式V化合物 然后在吡啶存在下与式III化合物反应,得到式I化合物。
