SOLUTION: A fixing belt 1 is stretched over a heating roller 2 containing a heat source 4 and a driving roller 3, and a pressing belt 7 is stretched over a pressing roller 8 and a driving roller 9. In fixing, the circumferential speed difference is given between both belts in such a manner that the speed of pressing belt 7 is larger than the speed of fixing belt 1. Thereby, a pressing force is generated from the belt 7 of a larger speed side to the belt 1 of a smaller speed side, the close contact between the belt and the paper is enhanced and thereby a uniform pressure in the nip is ensured. As a result, uniform heat supply to the paper is performed, the occurrence of image irregularities is prevented and an excellent picture can be obtained.
