    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase monitor which can adjust a phase of an interferometer without causing the deterioration of a waveform by dithering control, and discriminates not only a size and a code of a phase but also whether a phase of each interferometer is set at a desired phase.
      SOLUTION: Branches are categorized into a group 1 comprising first and second branches, and a group 2 comprising third and fourth branches. A signal is taken out from the rear stage of a dual pin photodiode of one branch in the group 1 and the front stage of CDR (Clock Data Recovery). Also, the signal is taken out from the subsequent stage of the CDR of the branch of the other side in the group 1. The taken-out signal passes through a low pass filter and made as an average value of a plurality of symbols of the signal. A signal from the prestage of the CDR and a signal from the subsequent stage are multiplied by a mixer and averaged. This value becomes a value reflecting a phase difference of two delay interferometers of the group 1. Monitoring is similarly carried out for the group 2.
