摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a hard contact lens having superior light controlling characteristic by mixing a specified monomer compsn. with a specified photo-chromic agent, polymerizing and hardening the mixture and polishing the hardened body. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. consisting of 30-80 pts.wt. methyl methacrylate, 2-30 pts. wt. bifunctional (meth)acrylate and 1-50 pts.wt. (meth)-acrylic monomer copolymerizable with the (meth)acrylate is mixed with a photochromic agent having such light controlling characteristic as to enable rapid coloring under light and to rapidly vanish the color when the light is shielded. The bifunctional (meth)acrylate is a compd. contg. two radical polymerizable (meth)acryl groups in one molecule, acts as a cross-linking agent and improves the polish-ability of a hard contact lens. Ethylene glycol di(meth)acrylate or propylene glycol di(meth)acrylate may be used as the bifunctional (meth)acrylate.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the transparency of a lens and prevent turbidity and heterogeneity by using a compound having two or more radical polymeric acrylic groups (or methacrylic groups) and a hydroxyl group in one molecule. CONSTITUTION:A lens is made of a compound (A) having at least two or more radical polymeric acrylic groups (including methacrylic groups) and a hydroxyl group in one molecule, hexamethylene diisocyanate (B), and a compound (C) co-polymerizable with the compound (A). To manufacture the lens, the compound (A), hexamethylene diisocyanate (B) and the compound (C) are mixed, the compound (A) and hexamethylene diisocyanate (B) are urethane-reacted into a radical polymeric monomer, and it is formed into the lens by the casting method via radical polymerization. A visual acuity correcting lens with excellent transparency and large shock strength can be obtained.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain an antimicrobial material by polymerizing an acrylic or methacrylic acid ester, a di- or tri(meth)acrylic acid ester, etc., in the presence of a radically polymerizable emulsifying' agent having sulfonic acid group and depositing the emulsion with a copper ion-containing aqueous solution, etc. CONSTITUTION:An antimicrobial material is produced by polymerizing 50-98 pts.wt. (meth)acrylic acid ester, 2-30 pts.wt. di- or tri(meth)acrylic acid ester as a crosslinking agent and 1-50 pts.wt. monomer (e.g. styrene, vinyl chloride or butadiene) copolymerizable therewith using a radically polymerizable emulsifying agent [e.g. a compound expressed by the formula (n) is >=6; X is H or CH3; Y is H, Na, K or NH4)] and depositing the resultant emulsion with an aqueous solution containing copper ions or silver ions. The aforementioned antimicrobial material contains the copper ions or silver ions on the surface of a crosslinked spherical copolymer. The above-mentioned antimicrobial material can be mixed with various resins and applied to respective fields of medicines, fibers, coatings, fishery, agriculture, buildings, etc.

The holder is so operated that the center of the curvature comes to the center of the rotating motion. The lens body S is so held that the liquid surface can be maintained in the perpendicular or nearly perpendicular state at all the points on the surfaces of the lens body at the time of immersing and pulling up the lens body S into and from the water surface A at the time of dipping. The resistance of the liquid is minimized during the rotating operation of the holder and the generation of the disturbance in the liquid is obviated. The dipping is thus executed always in the still liquid surface state and the hard coating free from speckles is executed with high accuracy.
