    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing alumina fibers having excellent restoring properties for further improvement in order to prevent joint opening, and to provide a fiberizing apparatus, a blanket, and a block.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing the alumina fibers containing 70 wt.% or more of alumina content includes forming a raw material solution containing PVA into alumina precursor fibers by a spinning method, drawing and drying the alumina precursor fibers, and then baking the fibers at 900°C or more, and thereby carrying out crystallization. The method for producing the alumina fibers includes the steps of drawing the alumina precursor fibers with a high-pressure air flow in at least two stages including a first stage, and the subsequent second stage. In the method for producing the alumina fibers, the angle between the blowoff direction of the air flow and the blowoff direction of the raw material solution in the first stage is not less than 80° and not more than 110°, and the angle between the blowoff direction of the air flow and the flow direction of the fibers in the second stage is not less than 10° and not more than 80°.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing alumina fiber blanket, by which several problems of safety, environmental load and economy, caused on conventional technologies are settled.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing alumina precursor fiber blanket comprises coating a pluronic type nonionic surfactant especially an aqueous solution thereof on alumina precursor fiber as an anti-friction material and then performing needle-punching processing on the alumina precursor fiber to form a blanket shape. Further, the alumina precursor fiber blanket obtained by the method is baked at ≥900°C to yield at least one crystal phase of mullite, corundum and γ-alumina.
