    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the yield and the purity of a polychloropropane from declining by its thermal decomposition or the like when distilling/purifying a polychloropropane comprising at least one hydrogen atom and a chlorine atom that binds to a carbon atom adjacent to a carbon atom to which the hydrogen atom binds, such as 1,1,1,2,3-pentachloropropane.SOLUTION: A phenol compound substituted with an allyl group, such as eugenol and o-allylphenol, is added to a crude polychloropropane prior to distillation, and subsequently the mixture is distilled. It is estimated that the unsaturated bond of the allyl group captures hydrogen chloride dissociated/generated by heating, whereby a side reaction wherein the hydrogen chloride acts as a catalyst or a reaction substrate, is suppressed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating (Z)-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and 1-chloro-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropane, which are difficult to separate from each other by an ordinary distillation operation, on an industrial scale. SOLUTION: In distilling a mixture containing (Z)-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and 1-chloro-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropane, the mixture is subjected to extractive distillation in the presence of at least one compound selected from the group consisting a halogenated hydrocarbon represented by the formula [wherein X is hydrogen (H), fluorine (F), or chlorine (Cl); n is an integer of 0-3; and m is an integer of 0-2], a halogenated unstaturated hydrocarbon, a nitrile, a ketone, a carbonate, an ether, an ester, and an alcohol.
