    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing blade rubber, in which the blade rubber is subjected to hydrophilization treatment without using a solution containing chlorine or the like, so that an apparatus is simplified and the time and labor are saved.SOLUTION: The method for producing the blade rubber includes: a blade rubber molding step (step S1) of molding the blade rubber by using a non-diene-based rubber material (ethylene-propylene rubber); a hydrophilization treatment step (step S2) of irradiating at least the lip part of the blade rubber with low-temperature plasma; and a surface modification step (step S3) of modifying the surface of a part after the hydrophilization treatment to have the property different from that of other parts. As a result, the hydrophilization treatment can be performed without using the solution containing chlorine or the like and a washing chamber and a drying chamber are not needed and the apparatus can be simplified. Since the solution containing the chlorine or the like is not used, treatment of liquid waste is not needed and an environmental load can be reduced. Since the non-diene-based rubber material is used, deterioration resistance (such as ozone resistance) can be improved.

The nitrogen gas flow rate is 1 to 100 L/min, hydrogen gas/nitrogen gas flow rate ratio is 0.1 to 200%, temperature of material processed is ambient temperature to 1,000°C, processing time is 0.01 to 24 hours. The material to be processed are either metals or insulation materials.
