    • PURPOSE: To manufacture low-Ti and high-C ferrochromium inexpensively and easily by restricting the ratio of MgO/Al
      2 O
      3 in blended starting material, the ratio of fixed carbon (F.C)/Cr
      2 O
      3 in chromium ore and the amount of SiO
      2 in produced slag to specified values.
      CONSTITUTION: Blended starting material is prepared so as to adjust the ratio of MgO%/Al
      2 O
      3 % in the material to ≥1.5. A carbon material is added so as to adjust the wt. ratio of the amount of fixed carbon to the amount of Cr
      2 O
      3 in chromium ore to 0.30W0.40, and silica is added so as to adjust the amount of SiO
      2 in produced slag to 30W45%. By refining the prepared starting material in an electric furnace to remove Ti, low-Ti and high-C ferrochromium can be manufactured using chromium ore relatively rich in Ti without carrying out forced removal of Ti by refining at the outside of the furnace.
