    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and system for bridging LAN traffic in an RPR network. SOLUTION: A method for bridging traffic over a network includes a step for receiving, at stations that are coupled to the network, forwarding information for remote devices that are coupled to the network via the stations. The forwarding information associates a remote address of each remote device with an address of one of the stations. Each station that receives the forwarding information stores the forwarding information in a forwarding database. The method also includes a step for receiving traffic at a first station from a first remote device that is coupled to the first station. The traffic includes a destination address that is a remote address of a second remote device that is coupled to a second station of the network. Furthermore, the method includes a step for identifying an address of the second station that is associated with the remote address of the second remote device in the forwarding database.     • PURPOSE:To provide the right of transmission impartially by varying the priority of a node station in a loop transmission system having a synchronizing station. CONSTITUTION:The synchronizing station 7 transmits a synchronizing signal F of a prescribed period T0 to nodes 1-6 constituting a loop. This synchronizing signal F resets a timer of the node stations 1-6 and also starts the communication having the highest priority level sequentially. The synchronizing signal F consists of a preamble PR, a start flag SF, a synchronizing bit SY, priority bits P0, P1 and an end flag EF. The synchronizing signal is transmitted with the synchronizing bit SY=1 and the priority is designated in the descending order by the bits P0, P1 to provide the right of transmission. If the transmission of the node is failed because of low priority level regardless of the possession of a signal to be transmitted, the priority level is increased by one at the next frame.

    • PURPOSE:To process a lot of data in high speed by applying modulation to a carrier having a different frequency in a loop and transmitting the information. CONSTITUTION:A token exists at each carrier having plural different frequencies on a communication loop. When the communication node desires to start data transmission, the token at each carrier is supervised. The carrier discovering the token at first is selected by a selecting circuit SEL. The token of the carrier selected is fetched once to the node. The node starts data transmission. When the transmission is finished, the token is transmitted immediately on the loop. The amount of communication is increased simply to (n) times by using n-set of carriers. Since the control method is the token passing basically, no complicated procedure is required.
