摘要： The apparatus and method for estimating the size of content being received before the actual transmission of the data utilizes Electronic Service Guide (ESG) information. The ESG information assists a client device in obtaining file information before the file is actually transmitted by the source of the same. In this manner, the power supply of the user device can be managed more efficiently and provide the user with the ability to make storage determinations at their user device before expending the power resources necessary to obtain (i.e., download) and store a particular file of interest to the user without requiring any user intervention.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter and a transmission system for transmitting terrestrial digital television broadcast waves including AC signals and TMCC signals to a receiver.
SOLUTION: The transmitter in the transmission system includes a means of transmitting the terrestrial digital television broadcast wave including the AC signal and the TMCC signal to the receiver and transmitting an emergency alert message and telegraphic information including a flag for identifying presence or asence of the emergency alert message, using the AC signal. The receiver extracts a TMCC carrier which carries the TMCC signal and an AC carrier which carries the AC signal, performs analog addition in regard to the TMCC carrier and the AC carrier, performs frame synchronization based on a reference for differential demodulation of an output signal by the analog addition and a synchronizing signal, discriminates presence or absence of the emergency alert message by monitoring a flag value in accordance with timing of a frame by the frame synchronization, and decodes the telegraphic information when detecting the flag value indicating that the flag is the emergency alert message.
