    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small surge absorption element excellent in impedance matching even for high-speed signals, and a surge absorption circuit. SOLUTION: The surge absorption element SA1 is provided with first and second inductors 10, 20, and first and second surge absorbers 30, 40. The first inductor 10 has first and second coils 13, 15, and the second inductor 20 has third and fourth coils 21, 23. By suitably setting the coupling coefficients between the respective coils and the induction coefficients of the first-fourth coils 13, 15, 21 and 23, image impedance with an even frequency characteristic can be achieved over a wide area. Further, since the first-fourth coils 13, 15, 21 and 23 have a positive magnetically coupled state with respect to one another, the induction coefficients of the first-fourth coils 13, 15, 21 and 23 can be reduced in comparison with a case where the first to fourth coils do not have a positive magnetically coupled state.
