    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-loss optical slicer with a rectangular wavelength transfer function. SOLUTION: The low-loss wavelength slicer is actualize by using waveguide grating router 500 connected to an input 2×2 coupler 501. The router 500 is terminated by an output reflecting device 514 and thus each reflected signal passes through the router 500 twice. The reflecting device 514 is composed of two sets of interleaved reflecting elements A and B arranged right nearby the output image curve of the router 500. The sets A and B are slightly displaced from the output curve and each of the displacement is so selected as to generate a phase shift π/2 between the signals reflected by the two sets A and B. The reflected signals pass the router 500 and the 2×2 coupler 501 again and each of them generates two output signals including even and odd channels of the input signal, and they are outputted from different input ports of the 2×2 coupler 501 respectively.
