CONSTITUTION:A printed matter printed by a printer 17 is transported, as it is, to a feeder (b), and is sent into a varnishing portion (a) by the feeder (b) and the printed surface is uniformly varnished. The printed matter 2 is, without interruption, placed on a transporting portion (c) which is linked with the varnishing portion (a) and, while moving towards the opposite direction, the varnish applied on the surface is dried by a varnish drying portion (d) which is provided over the above transporting portion (c). The printed matter 2 which has been printed and overcoated is delivered out, as it is, towards the transporting portion (c), and is piled up one after another, finishing the whole process of printing. Therefore, the whole operation from printing to the end of varnishing can be performed in an extremely short period of time, resulting in a great improvement in printing efficiency.

    • PURPOSE:To achieve a smooth coating by arranging a means of eliminating gap in a plate cylinder by enabling the driving of the form damping roller in a dampening apparatus and a dryer in a clear coating of printed matters. CONSTITUTION:When a dampening unit is used as dampener, a gear 14 is removed from gears 18 of a plate cylinder 1 and a damping roller 7 is rotated under a pressure in contact with the plate cylinder 1. When it is used as coater, the damping roller 7 is rotated with a gear 18 of the plate cylinder 1 at the equal peripheral velocity to the cylinder by the gear ratio determined through gears 13 and 14. Therefore, even when the nip pressure is limited with respect to the plate cylinder 1, the roller is allowed to rotate without slippage to eliminate roller lines or the like thereby preventing the coating surface from looking satin crape. A squeegee 15 is provided to check overflow of a coating agent 12 over the end face of a roll and an aluminum foil 29 is applied on a gap of the plate cylinder 1 to avoid attachment of a large amount of the coating agent 12 to the gap of the plate cylinder. This enables a smooth coating with an ordinary offset rotary press.
