    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generating type gear grinding apparatus which can place a dressing unit at an optimum dressing position with respect to stiffness, thermal deformation, and use of the apparatus, and further can achieve excellent accessibility.
      SOLUTION: The dressing unit (20) mounted on a dressing spindle supporting base (25) of the gear grinding apparatus is moved to the optimum dressing position between a work spindle (3) and a grinding worm (11) from a stationary position for dirt inspection outside the dressing position by means of a swing arm (27). Then, the dressing unit is accurately and firmly fixed to a bed. After the dressing finished, the dressing unit is returned to the stationary position again, where any obstruction for a grinding process and a mounting and dismounting operation of a workpiece does not occur.
