    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high light emission efficiency by preventing separation of a phosphor 11 from an extender 12 to sufficiently develop the additional effect of the extender 12 and prevent color shade, in the light emitting device employing a composite consisting of a medium 13 into which the phosphor 11 and the extender 12 are dispersed, as a second light emitting substance 30. SOLUTION: The light emitting device 10 includes a first light emitting substance 20 employing a semiconductor light emitting element which generates light having the wavelength of 420-500 nm, and the second light emitting substance 30 which generates visible light by the irradiation of light from the first light emitting substance 20. The second light emitting substance 20 consists of a composite containing the phosphor 11 and the extender 12 in the medium 13, and the formula of (1/3)≤K p /K f ≤3 is satisfied when the product of a difference between the density ρ p of phosphor 11 and the density ρ of the medium 13 by the square of grain size D50 p of the phosphor 11 or (ρ p -ρ)×D50 p 2 is shown by K p , and the product of a difference between the density ρ f of the extender 12 and the density ρ of the medium 13 by the square of grain size D50 f of the extender 12 or (ρ f -ρ)×D50 f 2 is shown by K f .
