    • PURPOSE:To heighten the detection sensitivity of mechanical vibration by utilizing that the speckle pattern formed on an image sensor varies by a slight force as applied to a multi-mode optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:In a sensor section SE for detecting a mechanical vibration, an eddy generating body 2 is given a mechanical force with von Karman's vortex street formed corresponding to flow velocity of a fluid to be measured to apply a force to a multi-mode optical fiber 3. An optical signal from a light source 1 is introduced to the multi-mode optical fiber 3 within the eddy generating body 2 through an optical fiber 31. Light from the eddy generating body 2 is irradiated on an image sensor 4 through an optical fiber 32 to form a speckle pattern SP. The speckle pattern SP does not vary in itself as long as there is no change in the force to be applied to the eddy generating body 2. But any change in the force causes a change in the force of the fiber 3 whereby the pattern SP itself varies and moves.
