    • PURPOSE:To pull sown the drive voltage usiong a simple structure by furnishing a magnet for impressing a magnetic field between a cathode and an anode where voltage is impressed. CONSTITUTION:An anode 2 and fluorescent substance 4 are provided on a front plate 1, and a cathode 8 is formed on a rear plate 5, and a rare gas mixed gas is encapsulated in a discharge space bounded by a barrier wall 9. When a voltage is impressed between the anode 2 and cathode 8, electrons are emitted from the cathode 8. Because magnetic field from a magnet 10 is applied in the direction of electric field, the electrons are accelerated in the direction of anode 2 while enwrapping on the line of magnetic force, which should suppress possible loss due to diffusion of electrons in the crosswise direction. This brings about electric dissociation to allow starting of the electric discharge at a low voltage, and the fluorescent substance 4 makes light emission with ultraviolet rays radiated from this discharging. Thereby the drive voltage can be pulled down with a simple structure.

    • PURPOSE:To evaporate water to perform a cooling operation and to supply the cooled water to a heat exchanger so as to cool air by a method wherein a vacuum pump is applied to reduce a pressure within a container having water therein. CONSTITUTION:As an interior part of a container 10 having water 11 contained therein is reduced in its pressure by a vacuum pump 14, an amount of evaporation of water 11 is increased. In particular, as an interior of the container 10 is less than an evaporating pressure of water, a boiling of water 11 is generated, the evaporating amount is remarkably increased and at this time the water 11 is retrieved from its evaporation heat and cooled and at the same time its water vapor is discharged from the vacuum pump 14. The cooled water is taken by a water pump 15 and sent to an indoor heat exchanger 17 through a piping 16. A heat exchanging operation is carried out between the air fed from a fan 18 rotated by a motor 19 and the cooled water, thereby the air is cooled and the cool air is fed into the room. The water heated through the heat exchanging operation passes through a piping 20 and it returned back to a container 10 and the water is further cooled again. The water evaporated is discharged and as the water 11 in the container 10 is decreased, the control device 25 properly opens a valve 13 in response to an amount of water measured by a water surface meter 21 and the water is replenished from an outer piping 12.
