    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loop type fast breeder reactor which reduces the mass of the structure members, shield, etc., reduces the cost and is superior in structural integrity and prevention of dragging-in of cover gas. SOLUTION: A cooling system vessel 25 containing a liquid metal coolant and cover gas inside and a cooling system vessel deck 26 to cover the upper surface of the cooling system vessel 25 are provided. An intermediate heat exchanger 11 having a multitude of heat conduction tubes and primary main circulation pump 15 are placed by penetrating the cooling system vessel deck 26 and inserting into the coolant in the cooling system vessel 25. Penetrating the cooling system vessel deck 25, a hot leg pipe 19 and a cold leg pipe 21 are placed. The hot leg pipe 19 is connected to the primary inlet of the intermediate heat exchanger 11 and the upper plenum of the reactor vessel 1 and the cold leg pipe 21 is connected to the lower plenum of the reactor vessel 1 and the suction side of the primary main circulation pump 15. In this manner, structure mass such as shield body and the like accompanying the placement of the hot leg pipe 19 and the cold leg pipe 21 for ensuring maintainability can be reduced.

SOLUTION: A horizontal base isolation part 14 wherein a plurality of rubber plates 12 and steel plates 13 are alternately laminated is placed on a foundation plate 11. A thick steel plate 15 is arranged at the horizontal base isolation part 14 and an inner cylinder body 16 is mounted on the outer peripheral surface of the thick steel plate 15. A vertical base isolation part 19 wherein a plurality of annular rubber plates 17 and annular steel plates 18 are arranged is disposed outside the inner cylinder body 16. An outer thick cylinder body 20 is arranged outside the vertical base isolation part 19 and a load support plate 21 is mounted on the upper surface of the outer thick cylinder body 20. A closed space 21 is formed between the load support plate 21 and the thick steel plate 15, the closed space 22 is filled with compression gas and sealed to form a compression gas chamber to constitute the horizontal and vertical integral isolation device. A part or a whole of a vertical load applied on the load support plate 21 is supported by means of a gas pressure in the compression gas chamber.

    • PURPOSE:To sharply simplify upper structure of a reactor by driving and controlling a control rod by means of a balance between buoyancy and a flow rate of a coolant flowing down through a control rod guide pipe. CONSTITUTION:Since lithium 23 wrapped with a control rod 15 has a specific weight smaller than that of a coolant, when a flow rate of a coolant flowing down through an inner pipe 16b is low, the control rod 15 is positioned at the upper end of the inner pipe 16b and brought into an inserted state. When a reactor is started, a coolant pressurized with the aid of a pump is guided from a high pressure plenum 18 through a feed reactor 19 to the upper end of the inner pipe 16b, flows down through the inner pipe 16b, and discharged through a drain flow passage 20 to a low pressure plenum 21. In which case, the control rod 15 is pressed downward and flows down through the inner pipe 16b and brought into a pull-off state. As noted above, insertion and pull-off of the control rod 15 in and from a core are controlled by means of a balance between buoyancy and a flow rate of a coolant flowing down through the inner pipe 16b.

    • PURPOSE:To protect member to be protected from the heat of sodium by sheathing a projecting end part of fixed fittings projecting toward the liquid contact surface side of a heat shielding plate with a sheathing member and setting the projecting end part so as not to directly bring it into contact with liquid sodium. CONSTITUTION:A heat shielding plate 13 is fixed on the liquid contact face 11a of a member 11 to be protected of a structure and the like by stud bolts 14 of a plurality of fixing fittings at fixed intervals 12 and the member 11 is sheathed. The periphery of the head part 14a of a stud bolt 14 projected in the side of flowing sodium 17 from the liquid contact face of the heat shielding plate 13 is coaxially sheathed with noncontact by a cap 18 which is a sheathing member. Thus heat follow-up of the stud bolt 14 for the flowing sodium 17 can be reduced, as the result heat stress of the member 11 can be lowered and the improvement of the heat protection effect in which the member 11 is protected from the heat of the flowing sodium 17 can be planned.
