    • PURPOSE:To realize the high recording density and the even electromagnetic conversion characteristics of a magnetic recording disk between its inner and outer circumferences, by increasing the vertical angle type ratio of the inner circumference compared with that of the outer circumference in a vertical magnetic recording system. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material 2 is dropped onto a revolving disk-shaped nonmagnetic supporter 1. In this case, the orientated magnets 3a of different polarities are set opposite to each other so that the inner circumferential sides of both magnets are put closer to the revolving surface of the supporter 1 compared with the outer circumferential sides. Thus, the magnetic powder in the material 2 is oriented when it is coated. In such a way, it is possible to obtain a magnetic recording disk which has a larger vertical orientation rate at the inner circumferential side of the supporter 1 than the outer circumferential side. As a result, the output characteristics are better unified between the inner and outer circumferential sides of the disk to satisfactorily correct an output difference caused between the inner and outer circumferential sides due to the difference of relative speeds between a magnetic head and the recording disk.

    • PURPOSE:To improve water resistance and moisture resistance and to eliminate hindrance to the storage of records by specifying the pH of a magnetic layer which contains hexagonal system ferrite magnetic powder containing a substituent element within a certain range. CONSTITUTION:When a recording medium is formed, proper amounts of additive, such as magnetic powder, a binder, a dispersant, and a lubricant are scaled and added to a proper solvent to prepare a magnetic paint. The pH of this magnetic paint is measured; when the pH is =7, an acidic material is added. Thus, the pH of the magnetic layer is held =3 to obtain sufficiently satisfactory water resistance and moisture resistance, thereby obtaining the recording medium which has superior running ability and durability.
