    • PURPOSE:To connect two members together without use of a special pipe expanding device or an elaborate device by heating the circumference of a connection between said two members to higher temperature than the inversion critical temperature in a connecting method by use of a flexible and long member of shape storing alloy. CONSTITUTION:Corrugated aluminium pipes 11 and 12 are butted. Each of pipes 11, 12 is 10mm. in wall thickness and 150mm. in the maximum outer diameter. Then, an Ni, Tl alloy tape 13 being a long member of shape storing alloy, 0.05mm. in thickness, 20mm. in width, and -70 deg.C in critical temperature is wound overlapped in a 0.2mm. pitch while allowing liquid nitrogen to be sprinkled and tension yielding about 4% elongation to be applied to it, and fixed in its end part. When the temperature is returned to the room temperature, the pipes 11, 12 are connected and fixed together by thermal restoring force of the tape 13. With this method, two members can be connected together without requiring a special pipe expanding device or an elaborate device.

This coil 20 is cooled to a tem. lower than the transformation temp., using a refrigerant consisting of dry ice and ethyl alcohol, extended and inserted through a coil inserting hole 21, and installed in a coil installing part 22. After the installation is completed, the coil 20 is returend to the room temp. which is higher than the reverse transformation temp., and is restored to the coiled-spring configuration. And, in this condition, a piston 23 is reciprocated, to use the coil spring 20 as a spring.
