    • PURPOSE: To connect segments easily and in a short time without using a bolt by installing a male metal fitting on one side and a female metal fitting on the other side in a recessed part of a joint surface in parallel to a tunnel axis for tunnel lining cement and fitting with a wedge. CONSTITUTION: A recessed part 3 is installed to a joint surface in parallel to a tunnel axis of a tunnel lining segment while a female metal fitting 1 having a slanted fitting part, whose head is gradually slanted toward a cutting face, is installed to a recessed part 3 of one joint surface. A male metal fitting 2, which wedges in the female metal fitting 1, is installed to the recessed part 3 on the other side. A total space of the recessed part of the joint required to fit both male and female metal fittings 1 and 2 is found from an equation where D>=(Bm -tm )sinθ+tf +tm , wherein Bm and tm stands for the outside length and thickness of the fitting part of the male metal fitting 2 while tf for the thickness of the female metal fitting 1, and θ stands for a slanted angle of the fitting part. The slanted surface of the male metal fitting 2 of a segment A' is fitted in and wedged with a slanted fitting part of the female metal fitting 2 of a segment A so that they may be connected. A succeeding segment joint is fitted in a preassembled ring segment and aligned and fixed with a through bolt.

    • PURPOSE:To provide the capability of coping with internal pressure by forming a shear resistance section such as ribs staggered along the peripheral direction of lining, on the ring joint surface between segments, and filling the gap of the jointed surface with a filler for jointing the segments to each other. CONSTITUTION:In space inside the skin plate 20 of a shield machine, synthetic segments 1A are held with an erector and supported on a mobile timbering device 21. Concrete 22 is placed in the concrete filling space 6 of a steel hull from a concrete filling port. Then, the coupling sections 12 and 13 of the segments 1A joined together via a seal member 25, and filling space 26 formed out of the filling recesses of both segments 1A is filled with a filler 27. While a shield machine is being propelled with a propulsion jack 23, a back-filling material 24 is fed through a back-filling port 16. According to this construction, segment rings, particularly when subjected to internal pressure, can effectively cooperate with each other for resisting axial tension and cross sectional shear.
