    • PURPOSE:To get rid of luster distortion and brightness unevenness by so setting a linear cathode that the end part having low potential may be more apart from a rear electrode than the other end being near dem rear electrode and having high potential while being positioned close to the drawer electrode. CONSTITUTION:A linear cathode 2 is so arranged that an interval L2 between the end part having low potential and the vertical focusing electrode 3 may be larger as compared with the interval L1 between the end part having high potential and the vertical focusing electrode 3. Thereby, an initial speed difference of the electron beams on both ends of the linear cathode 2 can be reduced while getting rid of an influence to be given to the vertical deflection sensitivity thus unifying screen brightness.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the space for an image display device by installing various electrodes located between an electron beam generator and a screen in a vacuum case and leading out electrode leads through resistors formed on the outer surface of the case by printing or similar method. CONSTITUTION:An image display device is assembled by placing in a vacuum glass case 43, a back electrode 1, a linear cathode 2, vertical focusing and deflection electrodes 3 and 4, a beam current control electrode 5, horizontal focusing and deflection electrodes 6 and 7, a beam-accelerating electrode 8 and a screen plate 9 in that order. Resistors 53 are formed on the outer surface of the case 43 by applying a ruthenium-oxide-system paste by printing. Ends of the resistors 53 are connected to the lead-out terminals 15-1'-15-n' of beam current control electrodes 5 and the other ends are connected to IC output terminals 52. Accordingly, it is possible to achieve protective effect without providing any space for protective resistance, thereby reducing the whole size of the image displayer.
