CONSTITUTION:When a test signal is sent from an exchange 10 to each telephone set 12, since a confirming signal is returned from a telephone set 12 in reply with the test signal, the reception state of the confirming signal is monitored by the exchange 10 and the presence of a broken wire interconnecting a telephone line 11 and the telephone set 12 is discriminated depending on the reception state of the confirming signal. Thus, the presence of a broken wire interconnecting a telephone line 11 and the telephone set 12 is discriminated without talking with a subscriber.

Thus, simultaneous, group or individual broadcast is sounded from a speaker of a selected wired broadcast telephone set among plural wired broadcast telephone sets connecting to a same line.
