    • PURPOSE:To exactly detect a tracking error by equipping a regular detector, another detector whose characteristic is different and the detector of the data difference of the both detectors. CONSTITUTION:A recording signal from a magnetic tape 1 is led through a magnetic head 2, a head amplifier 3 and an equalizer 4 to first and second detectors 6 and 7 and a clock generator 5. According to the dislocation of a tracking, the S/N of a reproduced signal is gradually lowered, however, for the first detector 6, an error rate is largely changed by the small change of the S/N at a threshold (S/N)0 of the S/N as a border. The second detector 7 is a little dislocated from a regular detecting characteristic, the error rate is not extremely changed at the (S/N)0 and an error gradually starts to increase preceding to the detector 6. At such a time, when the generating frequency of the difference of the detected result of the both detectors is supervised by a detector 8, information to correspond to the tracking error can be obtained from a terminal 11.

    • PURPOSE:To automatically make the best adjustment by correcting the coefficient of an equalizer at every time while deciding whether error detection data generated by a reception-side processor increases or decreases. CONSTITUTION:The output of the equalizer 2 is applied to a detector 3, detected as a binary signal (ternary signal or more according to a modulation system), and demodulated by a demodulator 4. Error detection information generated by the processing stage of the reception-side processor 5 is led to a coefficient controller 8. The coefficient controller 8 controls the coefficient in the equalizer 2 in such a direction that an error frequency decreases according to an input error pointer. Consequently, the characteristics of the equalizer can be set automatically so that the error generation is invariably minimum, and even if a transmission line changes in state or when compatible reproduction is performed by a magnetic recording and reproducing device, the equalization characteristics need not be readjusted at every time.

CONSTITUTION:The outputs from head amplifiers 6-9 are respectively supplied to adders 22-25 and coefficient multipliers 10-21. In such a case, the channels corresponding to magnetic heads 2-5 are denoted respectively as channel A1, channel A2, channel B1, and channel B2. The coefficient of the multiplier 10 is a sign-inversed value of the quantity of crosstalk from the channel A2 to the channel A1. That is, if the said quantity is a 5% of the channel A2, the said coefficient of the multiplier 10 goes to the inverse of 0.05. Similarly, the coefficients of the multipliers 11 and 12 are the sign-inversed values of the quantities of crosstalks respectively from the channels B1 and B2 to the channel A1. Also similarly, those of the multipliers 13-21 are the sign-inversed values of the quantities of crosstalks between respective channels. By setting the coefficients of the multipliers 10-21 in such a way, the inter-channel crosstalk is canceled from the adders 22-25.

    • PURPOSE:To correct automatically a threshold value for detection at all time to an ideal value by providing a positive peak detector, a low pass filter, a negative peak detector, and a comparator which compares a reproduced signal with a threshold value generated by a threshold generator and obtains an output. CONSTITUTION:The output of an equalizer of a reproduction system is inputted to the positive peak detector 2, the negative peak detector 4, and the comparator 7 through a terminal 1. The detector 2 detects the positive peak value of the inputted signal, and the detector 4 detects the negative peak value of the same. The output from the detector 2 and that from the one 4 are impressed respectively to the low pass filters 3 and 5. The low pass filters 3 and 5 eliminate the local variation of the outputs from the positive peak detector 2 and the negative peak detector 4 respectively, and the tendency of a comparatively long period of the both peaks are extracted. The threshold value generator 6 generates the threshold value based on the outputs from the both low pass filters 3 and 5. The output from the generator 6 and the signal supplied through the terminal 1 are compared by the comparator 7, and its detection output is sent through an output terminal 8.

The output data of a record side processor 3 is supplied to an interleaving device 46 via an input terminal 45. The device 46 interleaves the input data after changing their orders and impresses them to a subblock producer 47. The producer 47 divides the impressed data for each prescribed number and also produces an error detecting word and then a sub-block. The output of the producer 47 is impressed to a parity block producer 48 to produce the parity data to the prescribed sub-block length. Thus a parity block is produced. In such a way, the error corrected/coded data is applied to a modulator 5 via an output terminal 49.
