    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the holding force of irregular refractories from lowering even at the time of temperature rise by specifying the open angine between anchor branches for holding the irregular refractories on the eall of a ceramic furnace. SOLUTION: A supporting anchor 1 comprises an anchor branch part 1b obtained by splitting the upper half of a tubular body, e.g. a steel pipe, vertically and bending it into reverse V-shape and an achor strut 1a at the lower half of the tubular body wherein the open angle between the branch parts is set in the range of 190 deg.-350 deg.. Alternatively, the anchor branch part 1c of the tubular body is welded to the anchor strut 1a thereof or a substantially L-shaped anchor branch part 1d is welded to the anchor strut 1a of the tubular body and then the anchor branch part 1c is welded. The supporting anchors are not limited to a tubular body such as a steel pipe, but they can be produced by machining a steel rod, a rectangular pipe, a section steel, or the like. Shaping method is not limited to bending or welding but it can be assembled through integral molding.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate the work with a skilled technician and to shorten the time by fitting a dummy tuyere to a tuyere at the bedding part of a ladle, fixing it with a fixed metal tool, pouring castable refractory to the lower height than the upper end of the dummy tuyere and removing the dummy tuyere. SOLUTION: Before pouring the castable refractory, the dummy tuyere 11 is fitted to the tuyere 5 and fixed with the fixed metal tool 12, and contacting surface with a tuyere brick 6 is closely stuck with a fastening metal tool 13 and firmly fastened. After fitting the dummy tuyere 11, immediately, the pouring of the castable refractory 4 can be executed. At the time of pouring the castable refractory 4, it is most important to pour the castable refractory so that the upper surface level of the castable refractory 4 does not exceed the upper end of the dummy tuyere 11. Then, after completing the hardening of the castable refractory 4 or just before completing the hardening thereof, the dummy tuyere 11 is taken out from the tuyere 5. The dummy tuyere 11 is formed of a cylindrical member made of steel or plastics, etc., with the shape conforming to the tuyere shape.

    • PURPOSE:To enable smooth casting with a little force to straightening and drawing by forming a nearly U shaped groove on a short wall side plate, making the width at the bottom face of the groove narrower than the thickness of a cast strip, gradually reducing the width at the side face of the groove downward and retaining the width thereof to the lower end below tapered range constant. CONSTITUTION:The short wall side plate 3 has narrower width at the bottom face of groove having horizontal cross section of nearly U shape than the thickness of cast strip and the side face of groove is extended from the bottom face inclined in the normal direction of the bottom face and the width at the side face of the groove is gradually reduced downward i the tapered range and constant to the lower end below the tapered range. By this formation, solidified shell is not straightened along the constant width part at the side face of groove below the finished point (c) of tapered part and is drawn to the lower part of the mold as the cast strip as it is. Therefore, the cross section at the edge part of the cast strip is made to edge drop shape gradually reducing the thickness.

    • PURPOSE:To perfectly prevent the development of breakout caused by casting flash by setting plural electromagnets along side face opposing to a movable belt in fixed type short side and also plural electromagnets opposing to the above electromagnet in a cooling pad at rear of the belt. CONSTITUTION:A strip continuous casting machine is constituted of casting space with one pair of movable belts 1, 1' and one pair of fixed type short sides 2, 2'. This fixed type short sides 2, 2' are formed to top-widening and bottom-squeezing type, and at both side faces opposing to the belt 1, 1', plural electromagnets 6 are set along the drawing direction of cast slab, respectively so as to be able to independently execute ON-OFF control and also heat sensors 8 composed of thermocouples are arranged. On the other hand, in the position of cooling pad 3, 3' set at rear of the belt 1, 1' near the short side, plural electromagnets 7 are set so as to be able to independently execute the ON-OFF control. By this method, at the time of detecting the development of casting flash with the heat sensor 8, by controlling the electromagnets 6, 7, the development of breakout caused by the casting flash is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To form short side plate restraining the development of penetration of molten metal into joint part during casting by setting refractory with fibers specified in coefficient of linear expansion and high temp. strength embedded between metal frame casing parts of the short side plate with the intermediate part squeezed into the shape of top-widening and bottom-narrowing. CONSTITUTION:A cast strip continuous casting machine is constituted of long side faces with circulating bodies composed of one pair of metal belts 1, 2 and short side faces with one pair of the short side plates 4, 5 to form casting space. This short side plate 4, 5 is constituted of a metal frame 8 and the refractory 10, and the metal frame 8 has the casting parts 9 squeezed as arc-like into the shape of top-widening and bottom-narrowing to support the refractory 10 between these casing parts 9. Then, in the refractory 10, the fibers 11 (about 0.5mmphi wire diameter, abut 20-30mm length) having smaller coefficient of linear expansion ( / deg.C) and more excellent high temp. strength (about 10kg/mm ) than those of the refractory 10, are uniformly embedded in longitudinal direction. By this method, the short side plates 4, 5 having a little expansion difference between the longitudinal direction and width direction in the refractory 10 during casting, is obtd. and development of breakout is prevented from occurring.
