    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to provide for a high shield effect, a less magnetic field gradient and reduction of the correction coil output by increasing the board thickness of the magnetic shield member within a argument of 90 deg. centering the dynamic diameter passing through the side hole as compared with other portion. CONSTITUTION:The end boards of a magnetic shield 3 comprises one end board 5a having a central opening 6 and a side hole 10, and the other end board 5b having a central opening 6. The end board 5a having the side hole 10 is provided with a thick-board portion 11 wherein the board thickness of a fan-shaped area of any opening angle within 180 deg. centering the side hole 10 is formed more thickly as compared with the other portion. In other words, the thick-board portion 11 is formed within a region of an argument of 90 deg., centering the dynamic diameter passing through the side hole 10. If the side hole 10 is provided in the portion of the end board 5a defined by Z>0 and y>0, it becomes magnetically asymmetrical relative to the original point o so that a magnetic field gradient occurs and the magnetic field uniformity degrades, but, if the board thickness of the end board 5a is increased, the increase of the magnetic reluctance is suppressed to suppress the generation of the magnetic field gradient, thereby improving the magnetic field uniformity.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent magnetic characteristics of superconductive main coil being damaged, and improve them, by making axial centers of a superconductive main coil and an active shield coil coincide with each other, and making magnetic field generated at the axial center by the active shield coil itself intense and uniform. CONSTITUTION:A superconductive main coil 21 wound on a frame 22 is manufactured in the manner in which magnetic field of high and uniform intensity can be obtained in a necessary magnetic field space (vicinity of theta point) by the coil itself. An active shield coil 23 to reduce leakage magnetic field is wound with inverse polarity so as to generate the inverse magnetic field against the superconductive main coil 21, and constituted in a split coil form having an error component of zero which is comparable or more with the superconductive main coil 21. In the case of parallel excitation of the superconductive main coil and the active shield coil as well as series excitation of them, consideration for source voltage fluctuation and the like is unnecessary, because each coil has no error magnetic field.
