    • PURPOSE:To reduce man-hours for production, decrease the amount of adhesive for embedding an inter-cell connection part, and facilitate pouring of electrolyte by embedding the bend of each connecting rod between straps of an adjoining group of electrode plates into an adhesive in a recess provided inside a lid. CONSTITUTION:Straps 2 of an adjoining groups of electrode plates 1 with battery jar bulkheads 3a interposed are connected with one another by connecting rods 4 in the form of flat plate, and the center of each connecting rod 4 is bent upward. This group of electrode plates 1 are inserted in a battery jar 3 so that the straps 2 in the cell chambers are arranged below the top end of the applicable bulkhead 3a while the bend of the connecting rod 4 located higher than the top of the bulkhead 3a, and the bend of the connecting rod 4 is embedded in the adhesive 6 in a recess provided inside a lid 5 which covers the top surface of the battery jar. This allows forming at one time of series connection of the same polarity electrode plates one another within one cell chamber and different polarity electrode plates one another within adjoining cell chambers through bulkhead. This reduces man hours in production, decreases the amount of adhesive required to embed the connecting rods, increases the intra-battery space, and facilitates pouring in of the electrolyte.

CONSTITUTION:A safety valve 4 composed separately from an electrode group and a battery jar main body is arranged in the cell chamber 2 of the battery jar main body 1, and the upper end surface of the outer wall 4a of the safety valve 4 is heating-fused and supported to the surface of a sheet-form member 3 to seal the opening surface of the battery jar main body 1. Since the safety valve is made as a separate device independent from the battery jar 1 in such a way, it can be positioned at a desired place in the cell chamber 2. Consequently, an accurate processing of the safety valve 4 can be easily carried out. and the assembly of the battery can be easily made.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation of a reinforcing case by fitting a metal reinforcing case to a container and bending the opening end of the reinforcing case toward the upper periphery of a cover with the outer wall of the cover pressed from the outside of the reinforcing case. CONSTITUTION:A periphery wall 5a which covers a part of the periphery of a container 1 is formed in a cover 5 which is put on the one end of a container made of synthetic resin in which a plate group is accommodated and a metal reinforcing case 4 is fitted to the container 1. The periphery wall 5a is pressed from the outside of the reinforcing case 4, and the opening end 4a of the reinforcing case 4 is bent toward the upper periphery of the cover 5 with the reinforcing case 4 pressed. When a mold 8 is lowered, the straight part 8a of the mold holds the lower part 4b of the bending part of the reinforcing case 4, and the reinforcing case 4 is compressed between the straight part 8a and the periphery wall 5a, then the opening end 4a is bent toward the upper periphery of the cover 5. The distortion or deformation of the reinforcing case 4 is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To have a battery jar in which a laminate metal plate and a thermoplastic resin molding are consolidated thoroughly, by fitting the laminate metal plate over a metal die for molding the battery jar, injecting molten resin into this metal die, and thereby consolidating. CONSTITUTION:A battery jar is composed of a laminate metal plate 1 consisting of polypropylene resin layers 1a and steel plates 1b and a polypropylene resin molding 2. The battery jar has an opening in one of the longer side faces, and therefrom a group of electrodes consisting of positive electrode plates 3, negative electrode plates 4, and separators 5 are loaded, and then the opening is sealed with a film, etc., followed by terminal processing and injection of electrolyte. Thus a battery is completed, whose battery jar is accomplished by fixing a metal plate 1 to a injection molding die, feeding molten polypropylene resin, and by consolidating the part 2 with the resin layer of the metal plate 1. Thereby battery jars of stabilized quality using metal plate 1 partially can be manufactured by a process excellent even in industrial production.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent damage of electrode plates, whitening of resin of battery jar, and deformation of a reinforcing case by placing a lid on one end of the battery jar in resin which accommodates electrode plates, fitting the reinforcing case in metal on the battery jar, folding the peripheral edges of an opening of reinforcing case toward the top peripheral edge of the lid, and pressing it and fixing. CONSTITUTION:After fitting of electrode plates 2, the open face of a battery jar 1 is sealed with a film 3 having gas barrier function. A lid 5 consisting of metal, synthetic resin, rubber, ceramic, or any other suitable material is placed on the oversurface of a terminal penetrating part 1a of this battery jar 1. In a reinforcing case of metal 4 covering the outer surface of the battery jar, the electrode plates 2 are fitted and the battery jar 1 whose open face is sealed with a sealing film 3 is inserted, and the peripheral edges of the opening are folded toward top peripheral edge of the lid 5, followed by pressing and fixing. This eliminates application of unreasonable force to the battery jar 1 or reinforcing case 4, damage to the electrode plates 2, whitening of the battery jar 1, and deformation of the case 4.

    • PURPOSE:To improve discharge property and make the outer size of a battery compact by binding two batteries whose open planes of monoblock electrolytic cells are sealed with a sheet while contacting their sheet sides to each other. CONSTITUTION:A necessary number of electricity generating elements consisting of an anode 2, a separator 3, and a cathode are contained in a monoblock electrolytic cell 1 and the open plane is sealed with a thermally fusible and flexible sheet 11. One battery is formed by binding batteries 1 and 1' having an electrolytic cell 1' in the same composition as the battery 1 while each of the sheets are contacted, welding the circumference of the bound parts, and electrically connecting anode terminals of both batteries. The battery can use thin type electricity generating elements, and at the time of discharge, pushing pressure is applied to electrodes owing to absorption of generated oxygen, and in the case of being charged at large current, both sheets push each other and abnormal expansion is prevented. Consequently, a long service life and small size of the battery are achieved.
