    • PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composite, by dissolving a synthetic polymer and N-carboxyamino acid anhydride (NCA) in an organic solvent, adding a physiologically active substance to the solution before, during, or after the polymerization of the solution in the presence of an NCA-polymerization catalyst, and forming the polymer to the desired shape. CONSTITUTION:1pt.wt. of a synthetic polymer (e.g. polycarbonate) and 0.1-20pts. of N-carboxyamino acid anhydride (NCA) are dissolved in 10-50pts. of an organic solvent (e.g. dichloromethane). The solution is added with 0.01-1.0mol%, based on NCA, of an NCA-polymerization catalyst, and then with 1-200pts. of a physiologically active substance before, during or after the polymerization. The polymer is formed to desired shape, and the organic solvent is removed to obtain the slow-releasing composite. The composite has longer slow-releasing period than the composite containing a polypeptide as only carrier, and has excellent physical properties such as strength, hardness, etc. As an alternative method, the composite can be obtained by dissolving a synthetic polymer and a polypeptide in an organic solvent, and carrying out the similar operations.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a hard prolonged release type composite having a long prolonged releasing time of a physiologically active substance, by molding a system consisting of a heat denaturing protein, a mixed solution of water with an organic solvent and a physiologically active substance into a suitable shape, and heat-treating the resultant molded material. CONSTITUTION:A system consisting of 10pts.wt. heat denaturing protein, e.g. albumin, gamma-globuin or hemoglobin, with 0.01-10pts.wt. mixed solution of water with an organic solvent and 0.01-50pts.wt. physiologically active substance is molded into a suitable shape, and the resultant molded article is then heat- treated at room temperature -100 deg.C to give the aimed prolonged release type composite. The prolonged release type composite prepared by using the mixed solution of water with the organic solvent has remarkable improved prolonged releasing properties compared with that of the water alone, and improved properties such as a slight porous structure formed in the composite. The heat treatment and the light or ionizing radiation provide better effects. Preferably, the mixed solution is used in an amount of 0.5-1pt.wt. based on 1pt.wt. water.
