    • PURPOSE:To greatly shorten the time required for recording of one sheet including the time for delivery of the same by a method wherein fixing of the recording sheet by a chuck is released immediately before starting of the recording for the third color, and sheet delivery is made at same time as the execution of recording for the third color. CONSTITUTION:Immediately before starting of the printing for the third color, a platen roller 1 is rotated under a recording sheet-carrying mode, then a motor 9 stops by operation of a sensor 80 and a second motor 44 starts operation. Thereby shifting is made from the recording sheet-carrying mode to a recording sheet delivery mode. At this time, a slider 54 moves, and a stand 25 for unwinding reel is fixed with a lock arm 26 under the recording sheet delivery mode, while a platen locking arm 58 is released together with the release of the recording sheet-carrying mode, and a slide gear 25 is engaged with a platen gear 8 in a state the same as that of a printing mode. A K-arm 60 swings along a slit 54f for the swing of the slider 54, and as a chuck arm 5 and one end 60b of the K-arm make contact each other, the chuck arm 5 comes up, separating from the circumference of the platen roller 1, and thereby fixing applied to a recording sheet 3 is released.

    • PURPOSE:To attain color and white-black print picture by converting a color picture signal into a black-white picture signal to revise the power application time to a thermal head to be optimum to the white-black print picture. CONSTITUTION:A signal conversion means is provided to any of an analog processing means 2000, an A/D converter means 3000 and a memory means 4000 and a power application time revision means is provided to an intermediate tone control means 6000. Then a signal conversion means converts an inputted color picture signal into a white-black picture signal with a means such as a matrix. Moreover, the power application time revision means revises the power application time into a time corresponding to kind of ink paper (color ink, white-black ink) so as to reproduce the contrast proper to the white-black print picture thereby applying the white-black print picture in response to the inputted color picture signal. Thus, one set of printer can print out color and white-black print picture.

    • PURPOSE:To perform stable gradation expression irrespective of change in colorant and to reduce necessary data capacity by interpolating and calculating data corresponding to the temperature of a thermal head from stored data at the time of printing, and supplying a current to the head based on the data. CONSTITUTION:Current data calculating means 3 receives temperature data from a temperature sensor 6 attached to a thermal head 5 until a recording sheet 10 or an ink sheet 9 is conveyed to a predetermined recording position, necessary data is read from a gradation ROM 4 in response to the temperature data, and current flowing time data is calculated. An image signal having gradation information of dense and pale density direction is input to halftone control means 2 at each pixel of an image from an image signal source 1 at the time of recording. The means 2 receives data of current flowing time of the head 5 responsive to a gradation number output from current flowing data calculating means 3, and outputs a strobe signal to the head 5 in response to the current flowing time.

    • PURPOSE:To suppress variation in density characteristic and to obtain a high-fidelity multi-gradation color image by dividing a temperature detecting range into a plurality, dividing the divided ranges into N steps to be quantized, and raising temperature detecting sensitivity of temperature detecting means. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a thermal head 5 is detected by a temperature sensor 6 and a temperature detector 8 at the time of start of printing, and input to a conducting time controller 3. Representative temperatures Tm and Tn above and below a detecting temperature T1 are specified from conducting time data stored in a gradation ROM 7, and Dm and Dn of conducting time data are specified. The data Dm, Dn are divided therebetween to temperature width steps, and Dmn corresponding to the temperature width of one step is calculated. Dmn of one time is subtracted from the gradation Dm or Dmn of three times is added to the Dm in response to the temperature width step belonging to the detecting temperature T1 of the head 5. Conducting time data of the representative gradation of the temperature width step contained in the detected temperature is calculated. The operation is repeated to calculate conducting time data of all the representative gradations.
