    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for preferentially orienting the c-axis of an FePt ordered alloy film having high magnetic anisotropy in the direction perpendicular to the film plane, and to provide a method for manufacturing a high-density magnetic recording medium superior in thermal stability and perpendicular magnetic characteristics.
      SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the magnetic recording medium, a layer having the main components of Fe and O, a layer having the main component of Fe, and a layer having the main component of Pt are formed so as to be stacked in this order and the stacked films are then heated to a prescribed temperature so that the Fe and the Pt are alloyed by the mutual diffusion between the layer having the main component of Fe and the layer having the main component of Pt, thereby obtaining the FePt ordered alloy film in which the c-axis of the ordered alloy film is preferentially oriented in the direction perpendicular to the film plane.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium, having high magnetostatic characteristics and capable of recording with low medium noise and high-density, and to provide a magnetic recording device equipped with the same.
      SOLUTION: This high-density magnetic recording medium is constructed, in such a manner that an adhesive layer provided on a nonmagnetic substrate, a soft magnetic layer and a foundation layer are formed, and then a CoPtCr alloy magnetic film containing an oxide and a protective layer are formed sequentially on the nonmagnetic substrate. A recording layer is constituted of a CoPtCr alloy magnetic film containing an oxide, in which oxide concentration in the magnetic film is continuously reduced from a substrate direction toward the film surface direction.
