    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic braking system capable of performing failure diagnosis of an automatic braking stop lamp circuit without giving a sense of incongruity and trouble to a following vehicle and reducing influence to the following vehicle. SOLUTION: The stop lamp device is provided with a first stop lamp circuit (manual braking stop lamp circuit) closed by switching the switch interlocked with manual braking to the ON side and lighting the stop lamp; a second stop lamp circuit (automatic braking stop lamp circuit) closed by switching a relay to the ON side accompanying with automatic braking and lighting the stop lamp; and an abnormality detection means for performing abnormality detection of the second stop lamp circuit by feeding a false signal to the relay regardless of automatic braking. The abnormality detection means performs the abnormality detection at the fine time immediately after the switch is switched to the OFF side and the first stop lamp circuit is closed (S14-S26) after the first stop lamp circuit is closed (S10).
