    • PURPOSE:To obtain a rotary joint which has a hollow shaft by providing a rotary body with a conical wheel and columnar wheels crossing the hollow shaft of a fixed body and making a rotation-side optical fiber signal incident on a fixed-side optical fiber through the columnar wheel. CONSTITUTION:The conical wheel 8 whose axis crosses the hollow shaft 16 of the fixed body 7 is provided in a rotary body 1. The columnar wheels 4a and 4b which rotate along the peripheral surface of the conical wheel 8 are provided and a rotary-side optical fiber 2 is run through them. The incidence end of the fixed-side optical fiber 12, on the other hand, is positioned on the axis of the wheel 8. In such constitution, the optical fiber signal of the rotary side is made incident on the fixed-side optical fiber 12 through the projection ends of the columnar wheels. Consequently, neither a prism nor a rod lens is used, the transmission loss becomes extremely smaller. Further, a joint center part is a hollow shaft, so this joint can be utilized for a supply system for liquid, electricity, gas, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To improve a laser diode module in precision by a method wherein the angle adjustment and the fixing of an LD holder are easily made through the adjustment of a spherical sheet and laser welding, an LD holder is made to rotate freely to an optical axis to enable the rotational positioning of the major and the minor axis of the LD beam to be easily made, and other processes. CONSTITUTION:An LD holder 10 is displaced and adjusted in angle as being in contact with a fixed body 20 so as to make an outgoing beam from a light emitting section 2 parallel with an optical axis 52, and then the joint 8 between the LD holder 10 and the fixed body 20 is irradiated with laser ray 9 to weld the holder 10 and the body 20. As the LD holder 10 is able to rotate freely to an optical axis, the rotational positioning of the major and the minor axis of an LD beam can be easily made and consequently a laser diode may be just freely placed in the LD holder 10. When the level precision of the whole head is measured, the characteristic can be obtained through a module alone, so that the comparison of precision can be easily made thereafter and the module can be improved in precision.
