    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption by performing carrier sense detection in the state of selecting a variable frequency dividing means to a frequency dividing fraction mode. SOLUTION: A lock detecting means 15 detects that the phase error of a phase comparator 5 falls into a prescribed range. After the start of intermittent operation, a control means 10 monitors a signal from the lock detecting means 15 and when the signal from the lock detecting means 15 is detected, carrier sense operation is performed by operating a carrier sense means 11. When there is a carrier, the control means 10 switches a fractional frequency division/ integral frequency division switching means 9 to integral frequency division. Then, the fractional frequency division/integral frequency division switching means 9 controls the frequency division number of a variable frequency dividing means into a fixed value of 1/N and, simultaneously switches a frequency dividing means 6 so that the output of the frequency dividing means (1/M) 6 is a required value. Thus, the PLL operation of an ordinary integral frequency dividing system is provided. Then, data receiving operation is started and a demodulated output from a transmission/reception means 2 is converted to a data signal and outputted by a waveform shaping means 12.
