    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-power display with improved luminous efficiency.SOLUTION: A spatial light modulator comprises: an anterior reflective surface 202 that is arranged for reflecting light so as to separate it from a front face of a display device and defines multiple light transmission areas 206; a posterior reflective surface 204 that is arranged for reflecting the light to the front face of the display device and at least partially faces the anterior reflective surface; and a light modulator array that is arranged between the posterior reflective surface and the front face of the display device for forming multiple display pixels by selectively blocking each of the light transmission areas defined by the anterior reflective surface. The light modulators in the light modulator array correspond to the light transmission areas, respectively.
