    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hollow nanoparticles for forming a transparent coating film having a heat-shielding function, and to provide a coating material using the same.SOLUTION: The hollow nanoparticles are obtained by pulverizing a hollow needle-like material obtained by the hot water treatment of titanium oxide in an alkali solution, by using a bead mill to have a nanotube structure. Further, a layer formed of cerium oxide or the like and having an ultraviolet light-intercepting function, a layer formed of an antimony-doped zinc oxide or the like and having an infrared ray-intercepting function, or a layer formed of titanium oxide or the like and having a photocatalyst function is provided on the periphery of the hollow nanoparticles. There is also provided the coating material in which such hollow nanoparticles are dispersed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing copper-doped titanium oxide excellent in photocatalytic action in comparison with copper-doped titanium oxide obtained by a conventional sol-gel method.SOLUTION: The method for producing copper-doped titanium oxide includes: a process of refluxing a solution prepared by adding a copper alkoxide to a titanium alkoxide; a process of forming a sol solution serving as a precursor of the copper-doped titanium oxide by adding an acid catalyst to the solution after the refluxing treatment; a gel-forming process of forming gel by heating the sol solution to advance hydrolysis and a polycondensation reaction of the alkoxides; a hydrothermal treatment process of heating the gel after immersing it in distilled water to remove organic substances; and a firing process of forming the copper-doped titanium oxide by firing the gel after the hydrothermal treatment to crystallize it.
