    • PURPOSE:To simplify the measurement of clearance and to improve the precision thereof by a method wherein a clearance gage is not employed and a clearance of a part for measurement is measured from an amount of transfer of an outer gear which is moved by pressing in the back-and-forth direction in relation to a fixed inner gear. CONSTITUTION:An inner gear 1 and an outer gear 2 engaging with each other are so set that a tooth space of the former and a tooth of the latter fit in with each other exactly on the center line. A dial gage 16 is made to contact with the right end of the outer gear 2 in this state, so as to read the position this gear. With the pressing force of a spring 10 of a pressing element 9 reduced, subsequently, a knob 12 is rotated to press a pressing element 11 and thereby to transfer the outer gear 2 onto the left side. The dial gage 16 is made to contact with the right end of the outer gear 2 at the position whereat the transfer of the outer gear stops, so as to read the position thereof. By calculating the difference between the relative positions of the outer gear, a clearance in a part to be measured of an internal gear can be measured simply with high precision.

    • PURPOSE:To grasp the gap size between dies at optional positions quantitatively by interposing metal which is easy to deform plastically between the matching faces of the dies and measuring the thickness after the metal deforms after pressure application by die clamping. CONSTITUTION:A recessed part 11 which is bored in a chaise block 2 almost to the plate thickness of a lead frame. Plural metallic pieces 12 which are easy to deform plastically are arranged in the recessed part 11 of a bottom die as shown in figure (a). Then, die clamping pressure is applied as shown in figure (b) to cause the metallic pieces 13 to deform plastically. The thickness of the metallic piece 13 after the deformation is measured to grasp the gap size between the top and bottom dies quantitatively by using the previously measured side before the deformation. Those metallic pieces 12 are arranged at optional positions, so the size of each position is measured. The total quantity of deformation by the press die clamping pressure of a platen in a room temperature state and deformation by die clamping pressure, the quantity of deformation by each die pressure value of the press, etc., are grasped by this measurement.
