Alternatively, electricity is fed in both the horizontal scanning direction and the vertical scanning direction, thereby forming the sound source pattern corresponding to the acoustic lens. A lens aperture is thus made variable to arbitrarily change the quantity of ink liquid drops. Moreover, a driving frequency of the sound source pattern is changed to change the quantity of ink liquid drops.

Liquid drops are let to fly by converging the ultrasonic beams to leading ends of the liquid columns.

SOLUTION: A nonmagnetic element with a specific thickness is provided between a stator 2 and a yoke 3 or the surface treatment is applied to the stator 2 and the yoke 3, so as to prevent the surface of the stator 2 and the surface of the yoke 3 from being brought into contact with each other in order to maintain a certain gap between the stator 2 and the yoke 3. As a result, a specific magnetic reluctance can be maintained. With this constitution, difference in contact states which is caused by the respective surface unevennesses of the stator 2 and the yoke 3, i.e., varition in contact areas, can be eliminated, so that a rotor 1 can be stopped at a specific position by the specific magnetic reluctance.

Alternatively, the diameter of the housing part which is formed of at least one sheet-like member is constituted, so as to be different from the diameter of the housing parts which are formed on the other sheet-like members. By this constitution, a cogging torque which is generated between the rotor 13 and the stator 14 can be reduced nearly to zero.

One or a plurality of magnetic field adjusting magnetic materials 7 are attached to a surface opposite to the gap of the second shim 22 of the pole piece 2. Thus local nonuniformity of a magnetic field can be adjusted.
