    • PURPOSE:To improve the ink retentivity by successively forming an antihalation layer, a silver halide emulsion layer contg. a specified percentage or more of photosensitive silver chloride, and a layer contg. a hydrophilic binder by a specified percentage of the amount of physical developing nuclei prepd. by reducing a noble metal on a support. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide emulsion layer contg. silver chloride by >=98wt% of the amount of the photosensitive silver halides and having high developability is formed on an antihalation layer on a support. A layer contg. dispersed metallic colloid prepd. by directly reducing a noble metal as physical developing nuclei and a hydrophilic binder such as gelatin by 30-100wt% of the amount of the developing nuclei is then formed on the emulsion layer to manufacture a lithographic printing material. The activity of the developing nuclei is controlled by the increased amount of the binder, and since silver chloride having high developability is used, imagewise silver is made to exist on the surface of a printing plate without causing embedding. The lithographic printing material has high ink retentivity and superior printing resistance and gives a clear printed image free from ground stain with high reproducibility of fine dots and lines.

CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic colloid layer contains an org. silane compd. represented by the formula shown here which R is lower alkyl or alkenyl optionally sustd. by epoxy, amino, vinyl, or the like, and R -R are each lower alkyl, alkoxy, alkylcarboxy, or the like, and at least one of R -R has an epoxy, vinyl, or amino group at the terminal, and at least one of them has none of said groups. As a result, the obtained material is prevented from deterioration of photographic characteristics and increase of viscosity during the waiting time after coating, and also progress of film hardening during the lapse of time, and occurrence of peeling phenomena and surface damages are decreased.
