    • PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous operation of a hardness meter and to easily measure the hardness, by connecting an encoder circuit to a scale setting switch and connecting the display means of a sentence file to the decoder circuit connected to the encoder circuit on the output side thereof. CONSTITUTION:A measuring person sets a scale selecting switch Z prior to measurement. An encoder circuit 1 is connected to the switch Z and a sentence file 3 is connected to the decoder circuit 2 connected to the circuit 1 on the output side thereof. The kind of the indenter to a scale and reference load and testing load measuring conditions are stored in the file 3. A control circuit and an operation circuit 4 take out the internal data file of the kind of the indenter to the scale and the reference load and testing load measuring conditions and perform not only the setting of each measuring condition of a hardness meter but also the operation of the hardness meter according to the taken-out contents to operate and extract a measured value. The measured value is transmitted to a sentence display apparatus 5 to be displayed thereon. By this method, the erroneous operation of the hardness meter is prevented and hardness can be easily measured.

    • PURPOSE:To press a sample and to impose simply both preliminary and testing loads only by up-and down operations of a beam, by providing two plate springs to the ascending and descending beam and pressing a load shaft by the plate springs. CONSTITUTION:A base 2 for receiving sample is provided on a bed 1, and the sample 13 is laid thereon. Screw shafts 4 are provided to a supporting frame 3, and a beam 5 is provided to the shaft 4. The beam 5 ascends and descends by a revolution of the shaft 4. Plate springs 11a, 11b are provided by interposing them among shafts 6a, 6b, 6c in the beam 5. When a pressing plate 12 is pressed by a spring 8 through levers 7 to lower the beam 5, the sample 13 is pressed down by an energized force of the spring 8. If the beam 5 is furthermore lowered, the preliminary load is applied by the spring 11a. Next, if the beam 5 is furthermore lowered, an energized force of the spring 11b is added to apply the testing load.
