    • Apparatus for damping torsional vibrations in the power train of a motor vehicle has a first flywheel which defines an annular chamber for a supply of viscous fluid medium and carries one sealing device of a composite seal for separation of the chamber from the atmosphere. A second flywheel carries an antifriction bearing and the second sealing device of the composite seal. The first flywheel and the first sealing device form component parts of a first subassembly. The second flywheel, the second sealing device and the bearing form parts of a second subassembly. The two subassemblies are connected to each other in that the inner race of the bearing is slipped onto a cylindrical seat on an axial protuberance of the first flywheel and is retained on the protuberance of a ring which is affixed to the protuberance and overlies the inner race of the bearing. A torque-transmitting coupling between the second flywheel and the flange-like output member of a single damper or of two parallel-connected dampers in the chamber becomes operative in automatic response to attachment of the two subassemblies to each other.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the number of process and allow an easy manufacture by fixing a viscous fluid-sealed member to a hub in a viscous fluid. CONSTITUTION:A disc type hub 1 and a mass body 2 are assembled into a vulcanizing mold to vulcanize and form an elastic body 3 of rubber type elastic material, and the elastic body 3, upon being molded, is vulcanized and bonded to the hub 1 and the mass body 2. Then, a disc type viscous fluid-sealed member 5 is fixed to the hub in a viscous fluid 4 with one end 5a thereof caulked. The sealing of the viscous fluid 4 is ended concurrently with the finish of the caulking and fixing process. According to this construction, a sealing work can be undertaken, altogether for caulking and fixing the member 5 to the hub 1 and for sealing the fluid 4. Thus, the hub 1 does not need to have any filling hole, and no evacuation is required for a recessed section. Also, the recess section is not required to be filled with the fluid 4, and the press fitting of a steel ball to a filling hole is not needed.
