    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temporary end plug having a simple structure and seal function for clad stored until uranium pellets are charge inside.
      SOLUTION: The temporary end plug has a shell part fitted and inserted in a clad of a fuel rod and a chin of which the clad side contacts its open end surface and the opposite of the clad side forms a shape hardly grasped, and is detached from the clad with a special key. In the middle of the opposite of the clad side of the chin, a key hole with a rectangular cross section exists, and for engaging the tip end of a key fitted with the shape of the key hole cross section and inserted to the depth of the key hole, a deep room for turning the tip end of the key around an axis in the key hole is formed in the temporary end plug.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a partially long fuel rod from being pulled out by a method wherein a coupling fuel rod comprising a seal is fixed to an upper-part tie plate and a lower-part tie plate and a pullout preventive member is installed in a space on the extension of the partially long fuel rod at the upper-part tie plate. SOLUTION: Standard fuel rods and partially long fuel rods in nine rows and nine columns are square-arranged inside a square tubular channel box 1. Upper ends and lower ends of the fuel rods are fixed respectively by an upper-part tie plate 3 and a lower-part tie plate, and their intermediate parts are supported by a plurality of spacers. A seal is put on the upper end of a coupling fuel rod. Pullout preventive plates 10 which are made of stainless steel are installed at parts excluding respective bosses 16 on extensions of the partially long fuel rods. When the plates are installed, a jig or the like for fuel-rod pullout prevention cannot be put on the basis of information on a fuel assembly, and the partially long fuel rods cannot be passed because they are blocked by the pullout preventive plates 10. Consequently, as long as the fuel assembly is not disassembled by destroying the seal, the partially long fuel rods cannot be pulled out.
