The detecting device 23 comprises a float member 25 that moves up or down as the water level increases or decreases. When the water level is at or over a certain value and the float member 25 moves a certain distance upward vertically, the rotation member 21 rotates via the hinge formation member 22 to maintain the posture of the float member 25. After that, even when the water level decreases to less than the certain value, the posture of the float member 25 is maintained, whereby the occurrence of abnormal ignition can be prevented.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level detecting device capable of reducing an impulsive force which acts on an arm when a wave collides with a float, by straining ingenuity in the shape of the float or the structure of the arm.
      SOLUTION: The float 4 is formed into the shape of a spindle being on the same axis with a float holding part 5b. Consequently, when the wave W collides with the float 4, a fuel 10 flows along the surface of the float 4 smoothly, and the impulsive force F to be applied by the wave W to the float 4 is sharply reduced as compared with a conventional liquid level detecting device. Accordingly, it is possible to suppress faults such as deformation of the arm 5, or damages of a joining part of a housing holding part 5a to a magnet holder 2 and a joining part of the magnet holder 2 to a housing 3 caused by the impulsive force generated when the wave W by sway of the fuel 10 collides with the float 4.

The amount of air is measured by throwing in, in the cylindrical vessel 2, a predetermined amount of the sample and water, respectively, the measuring instrument 3 is mounted on the upper part of the cylindrical vessel 2, then the measured value is read out by the indicator needle.
