摘要： There is provided a process for the net catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation of alkanes to produce alkenes. The process involves simultaneous equilibrium dehydrogenation of alkanes to alkenes and combustion of the hydrogen formed to drive the equilibrium dehydrogenation reaction further to the product alkenes. In the present reaction, the alkane feed is passed into a reactor containing both an equilibrium dehydrogenation catalyst and a reducible metal oxide, whereby the alkane is dehydrogenated and the hydrogen produced is simultaneously and selectively combusted in oxidation/ reduction (REDOX) reaction with the reducible metal oxide. This particular mode of operation is termed a same reactor, REDOX mode. The equilibrium dehydrogenation catalyst may comprise platinum and the reducible metal oxide may contain bismuth, antimony, indium, or molybdenum, or a mixture thereof.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove nitrogen oxides by bringing an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst consisting of a porous carrier contg. at least one active metal selected from a group consisting of Pt, Pd, Ir and Rh and an MFI type zeolite with a molar ratio of SiO2 /Al2 O3 of a specified value into contact with exhaust gas. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas cleaning catalyst consists of a porous carrier and an MFI type zeolite. The porous carrier contains at least one of Pt, Pd, Ir and Rh as an active metal and has no limitation if it can carry this active metal and alumina and mordenite are used from a viewpoint of heat resistance. It is furthermore pref. that mordenite with a molar ratio of SiO2 /Al2 O3 of at least 100 is used. In addition, mean particle diameter of the active metal is at least 10 nm. The MFI type zeolite is hydrothermally synthesized without using an org. mineralizer such as tetrapropyl ammonium. The synthesized MFI type zeolite has a molar ratio of SiO2 /Al2 O3 of at least 20 and less than 200.

SOLUTION: A catalyst to be used for purifying exhaust gases emitted out of an internal combustion engine of an automobile and the like is produced by depositing iridium on a support containing silicon, nitrogen, and oxygen. In this case, the silicon/nitrogen/oxygen by atomic ratio in the supporting containing silicon, nitrogen, and oxygen is controlled to be 1/(0.0-1.5)/(0.1-2). Moreover, in the catalyst for purifying exhaust gases, it is preferable to further add a porous inorganic oxide and the porous inorganic oxide to be used is one compound selected from alumina, silica, zirconia, and zeolites. The support containing silicon, nitrogen, and oxygen and bearing iridium and the porous inorganic oxide are preferably mixed at 1/(0.2-50) wt. ratio.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deodorize a combustion gas containing a slight amount of aldehydes even in a low temperature range by oxidizing the aldehydes in the combustion gas by passing the combustion gas through an oxidation catalyst, which is produced by depositing platinum on a zeolite. SOLUTION: This oxidation catalyst is produced by depositing platinum on a zeolite. The deposition amount of platinum to the weight of the zeolite is controlled to be preferably within a range from 0.1 to 2 wt.% to the weight of the zeolite. The oxidation catalyst is efficient at about 110 deg.C or higher combustion gas temperature and, for example, aldehydes as low as 10 ppm in a combustion gas at about 200 deg.C can be oxidized to 3-4 ppm or lower. A catalyst layer formed by using such a catalyst may be installed at any position shown as a letter A or B in a gas discharging pipe 17. From that point, since the catalyst is efficient at about 110 deg.C or higher, it is sufficient to install the catalyst in a middle or in the outlet of the gas discharging pipe 17 not in a leading pipe 2 before a heat exchanger 3 or a high temperature part of immediate after the heat exchanger 3.

Alternatively, silver ion-exchanged zeolite is deposited on a honeycomb structure body and the surface is coated with a metal oxide catalyst which can convert mercaptanes in air into alkyl disulfide to produced an deodorization element. Manganese oxide, iron oxide, cobalt oxide, etc., in fine powder state with high specific surface area are preferably used as the metal oxide catalyst.
