    • PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in the strength of a fiber reinforced composite metallic material consisting of high-strength carbon fibers as a reinforcing material and an Mg alloy as matrix owing to the embrittlement of the carbon fibers in the stage of producing said material by composing specifically the Mg alloy. CONSTITUTION:Strands of the carbon fibers 1 which have 7mu diameter and 100mm. length and are incorporated in a stainless steel case 2 are disposed into the mold cavity 4 of a casting mold 3 preheated to 200 deg.C. The melt of the Mg alloy contg. 2-8% Zn, 0-0.2% Zr and 0-1% Al is poured into the mold. The melt is pressurized under 1,500kg/cm pressure by a plunger 6 and is cooled to solidify. The casting is taken out of the mold 3 by a knock-out pin 7 and the Mg alloy on the outside circumference of the case 2 is machined away; further the fiber reinforced composite metallic material consisting of the carbon fibers and the Mg alloy is taken out of the case 2. The Mg alloy having such compsn. is used as the matrix, by which the deterioration of the carbon fibers by the matrix alloy is obviated and the deterioration in the strength of the composite material is prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To avert displacement of the compressed assemblage of the 1st metallic powder and to form an alloy having a desired compsn. in the prescribed region in a casting mold by forming said assemblage in a specific case, detaining the case thereof into the casting mold and pouring the 2nd metal into the mold. CONSTITUTION:The assemblage of the 1st metal such as pure W powder or the like is packed in a case made of a stainless steel or the like provided with radial tongue-shaped parts 1 at the bottom end of the cylinder and is compressed to form a compression molding 4. The molding is preheated together with the case 2. Such molding is disposed in the molding cavity 6 of a casting mold 5 and the parts 1 of the case 2 are press-fitted to the side wall surface of the cavity 6 to fix the case 2. The melt 7 of the 2nd metal such as pure Al or the like is then poured into the cavity 6 and is pressurized by a plunger 8 to penetrate the melt into the molding 4 thereby alloying said metal. The alloy such as W-Al or the like having the desired uniform structure is formed in the prescribed position in the cavity 6 by the above-mentioned method.
