    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a panel allowing a display of high quality without generating a withstand pressure failure or an error discharge between adjacent cells.
      SOLUTION: Electrode pairs consisting of display electrodes 3 and 4 are formed on the surface of a front substrate 1 in two or more lines. A dielectric layer 6 is formed on the front substrate 1 to cover the display electrode pairs. The display electrodes 3 and 4 are each formed of a transparent electrode 8 and a bus electrode 9. A light shielding material layer 16 is formed in a position above the area between adjacent display electrodes on the dielectric layer 6. The light shielding material layer 16 is formed so that its end part is located on the bus electrode 9. The light shielding material layer 16 is successively exposed and developed from the back side of the front substrate 1, whereby a light shielding layer 17 is formed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel (PDP) capable of an image display of high display quality without tilting a barrier rib by balancing tensile stress in calcining the barrier rib and without causing crosstalk even in the case of the high-definition PDP.
      SOLUTION: This is the PDP in which a discharge cell is formed by oppositely arranging the front face plate 20 having a display electrode pair and the rear face plate 30 having a data electrode 32 and the barrier rib 34 so that the display electrode pair and the data electrode 32 are intersected. The barrier rib 34 is equipped with a plurality of vertical barrier ribs 34b arranged in parallel with the data electrode 32 and a plurality of lateral barrier ribs 34a which are intersected with the vertical barrier ribs 34b at a cross-linking part 36 and form the barrier rib 34 into the curb-like formed barrier rib 34, and a protruding part 40 is installed outside of the outermost end vertical barrier ribs 34c of both ends out of the vertical barrier ribs 34b.
