The magenta color image stabilizer which is used in combination with the coupler and is expressed by the formula II has not only the effect of preventing the color fading by the light of the magenta color image but also the effect of preventing the discoloration by the light. The color photographic material which has excellent color reproducibility and is remarkably improved in the fastness of the magenta color image to light is thus obtd.

The compounds represented by the formula II and the formula IIIa or IIIb are used as magenta dye image stabilizers by 5-400mol%, preferably 10-250mol% each and 10-550mol%, preferably 20-400mol% in total of the amount of the magenta coupler represented by the formula I.
