摘要： PURPOSE: To improve slaking resistance and enable to preserve in the air over a long time by impregnating a CaO-containing basic refractory with a slaking preventing agent composed of a liquid organic silicon compound. CONSTITUTION: The CaO-containing basic refractory such as a calcined magnesia dolomite brick is impregnated with the slaking preventing agent composed of the liquid organic silicon compound. As the liquid organic silicon compound, a silicone oil, silicone varnish or the like is used. And the impregnation with the organic silicon compound is executed preferably by a pressure reducing method or pressurizing method to obtain a more rigid wet layer than only by dipping the CaO-containing basic refractory. Since the organic silicon compound used as the slaking preventing agent is poor in hydrophilicity but excellent in wettability to carbon and is capable of infiltrating into the fixed depth of the inside of the refractory to isolate CaO in the refractory from moisture in the air, the CaO containing basic refractory excellent in slaking resistance is obtained.

Accordingly, the metal melting crucible 1 surely performs metal melting with the use thereof and a bumping phenomenon by over- electrification of the melting metal M is prevented. Since the crucible 1 is made of ceramic, it endures repeated use and difficult to wear without reaction with the melting metal M and the permeation of the melting metal M.
