Also, the photoelectric converting element 4 is an element having a function for converting the information of contrast into an electric signal such as, for example, a charge coupled device. Also, the translucent member 5 is a sheet- shaped member made of transparent glass or plastic.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for robots and mechanical moving mechanisms and to obtain a self-holding type switch which allows miniaturization and integration to a higher scale and has high reliability by successively sticking respectively specific substrates having flow passages, through-hole, valves, etc., to each other, thereby forming a laminated structure. SOLUTION: The first layer substrate passages 11i are formed at a first layer substrate 9 so as to cross the intersected points of matrix optical waveguides 10 and the first layer substrate throughholes 13i formed at their terminal parts. The second layer substrate through-holes (for refractive index matching agents) 15C1 and (for compressed air) 15C2 are formed in part of the second layer substrate 14. The third layer substrate flow passages (for matching agents) 19 and (for air) 20, the projecting valves for the matching agents and the projecting valves for air are simultaneously formed on the rear surface of the substrate 16. The third layer substrate through-holes (for matching agents) 17 and (for air) 18 are formed on the front surface of the substrate 16. The through-holes 23, 24 are similarly formed on the fourth layer substrate 22 and recessed parts 25 for electrodes are formed on the rear surface. Thin-film electrode patterns for valve driving are formed on the bottoms thereof.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized optical branching element of a self-hold type with long term reliability without moving a waveguide part by sticking plural layers of substrates to each other and constituting a flow passage of two inputs/one output through a valve part. SOLUTION: The flow passage 15a, etc., through which a diffractive index matching agent and compressed air flow arranged respectively traversing a Y type branch optical waveguide 13 and the waveguide of a branching destination and an ejecting though hole 14a, etc., existing on the flow passage end part are formed on a first layer substrate 2. The through holes 17a, 17b going to the flow passage 15a, etc., are formed on a second layer substrate 3. The flow passage going to the through holes 17a, 17b, the valve and the through holes 19a, 19b are formed on a third layer substrate 4. A fourth layer substrate 5 is provided with the separate through holes 20a, 20b going to the though holes 19a, 19b. By such a constitution, two sets of flow passages provided with two pieces of valves for one Y type branch optical waveguide 13 are formed. Such an optical branching element and an external circulation equipment making flow two kinds of fluids are provided, and the fluids are made flow through the flow passage, and light is transmitted/interrupted.
