    • PURPOSE:To provide a water heater which prevents a fluctuation in temperature of a supplied hot water through control of an amount of fuel supplied in accordance with a change in a water quantity, and has an excellent temperature characteristic. CONSTITUTION:With a hot water feed faucet 4 opened, a water flow stream is caused in a water feed path 2, a detecting temperature of a heat sensitive element 9 falls as a result of absorption of heat by passage of water, and a detecting output starts to decrease. Through detection of said reduction in the detecting output, a gas proportioning valve 7 is opened to fire a gas burner 5. After the gas burner 5 is fired, the detecting output of the heat-sensitive element 9 and a detecting output of a heat-sensitive element 10 are inputted to a comparator 11 by which they are compared and computed. Such comparing output is amplified by an amplifier 8 to input it to the gas proportioning valve 7, and the combustion amount of the gas burner 5 is controlled in proportion to a water quantity to maintain temperature of feed hot water in a specified temperature to set.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent temperature fall in outgoing hot water during the initiation of a second supply by a method wherein pre-purge is omitted when hot water is supplied for the second time before the expiration of a prescribed period of time following the end of the preveous supply of hot water. CONSTITUTION:In a forced-draft type tap-controlled water heater 1 provided with a fan 4 and a burner 3 directly ignited by an igniter 6, when a water-flow switch 7 to detect the supply of water to a heat exchanger 2 is turned ON for the first hot-water supply, the fan 4 is started for a pre-purge lasting several seconds, and then a gas solenoid valve 5 opens and the igniter 6 goes into action to ignite the burner 3. For a second supply of hot water within a certain period of time after a stoppage of the supply of hot water, the water-flow switch 7 is turned ON for the simultaneous activation of the fan 4, igniter 6, solenoid valve 5, for the ignition of the burner 3 without a pre-purge.

    • PURPOSE:To stop the combustion of the titled water heater when abnormality of a servomotor is detected by a method wherein the combustion is stopped when the time set for a timer which operates at the time of energization of an air quantity controling servomotor and which is reset at the time of deenergization of same is up. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of hot water detected by a heat sensitive element 14 is compared to a set temperature by a proportional circuit and the difference between two temperatures is amplified to control the coil 12 of a gas proportional valve 10 and at the same time, it is inputted to a servo-circuit so as to be compared to the value of the opening degree of a damper 17 (at the air intake port of a fan 3) detected by potentiometer 19 whereby the opening degree of the damper 17 is adjusted by the servomotor 19. Further, a CR timer A is provided in an abnormality detecting circuit so that when the servomotor 19 is energized, a photo-diode is operated to make a photo-transistor conductive, the timer A is started when the transistor becomes non-conductive and when the supply of electric current to the servomotor 19 is not interrupted within a predetermined time, a comparator is reversed to generate a signal to a safety operation circuit after the predetermined time has lapsed, to thereby stop the combustion of the water heater.

    • PURPOSE:To provide an automatic igniting apparatus, capable of carrying out all of the igniting procedures from ignition to main combustion by the so-called ''one- touch'' operation, by opening or closing an ignition safety valve and a main valve forcibly for a predetermined while at the initial stage after ignition in association with the operation of a lagging means comprising a piston and a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In igniting a burner, when a handle shaft 24 is turned from its stop position while being depressed, a pressure receiving piece 25 of a rod 14 is pushed by a cam 26 at an intermediate position of shaft 24, which causes displacement of a piston 13. At the same time, a main valve 9 is closed by a lever 20 and a safety valve 4 is pushed open by a valve rod 10. At the instant, spark is emitted by a spark ignitor 36 for igniting gas issued from a pilot burner 6. When cam 26 comes out of engagement with piece 25 after turning of shaft 24 is completed, a lagging means 11 starts its lag resetting operation and a check valve 17 is closed. Resultantly, piston 13 is caused to slide in a cylinder 12 and valve rod 10 is shifted to the right by rod 14 and lever 20. Then, after removing depression of safety valve 4, a main valve port 8 is opened.

    • PURPOSE:To improve safety of a gas device with slow ignition, by interlocking a governor valve of pressure regulator with a slow igniter having an actuating shaft which is slowly separated from the valve in the ''open'' direction and quickly shifted to the valve in the ''close'' direction. CONSTITUTION:As a valve is opened upstream, gas flows in a primary pressure chamber 8 from a gas inlet valve 2 and further in another pressure chamber 12 through a communicating hole 21, because a governor valve 5 is pressed by a spring 17 to close its valve port 4. Then the back pressure of an auxiliary diaphragm 13, caused by a rise in gas pressure, forces an auxiliary valve 15 to close its valve port 19. As the gas pressure rises further, a diaphragm 10 is displaced to the left against the spring 17 and the governor valve 5 opens its valve port 4. Since this opening action is slow due to the limited gas flow in the communicating hole 21, ignition is slow, whereas gas in the pressure chamber 12 is discharged through the auxiliary valve 15 in case of gas interruption and an actuating shaft 14 is quickly moved in the ''close'' direction.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate remote control by opening the switch parallel to the thermo- switch only during principal burning and closing the said switch during the operations such as additional burning. CONSTITUTION:A thermo-switch 4 for detecting water temperature in the heat exchanger 1 by a heat-sensor bar 3 is connected in series to a thermocouple 16 and the coil 17 of a safety valve 15, while the auxiliary on/off switch 18 is connected in parallel to the thermo-switch 4 so that said switch 18 is turned on or off by a rotary cam 8 at the end of the shaft of the remote control handle 7. A remote control wire 9 is connected to a shaft 19 which performs the operation for opening or closing the gas valve opening/closing mechanism 10. The handle 7 closes the auxiliary on/off switch 18 in the pilot ignition step a, pressure releasing step b for releasing pressure to the safety valve 15 and preliminary heating step c in which the main valve 13 is opened, and closes said switch 18 only in the principal heating step d which succeeds the preliminary heating step c. Thus, the all steps are accomplished by a rotating operation alone.
