摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat knitting machine having a yarn pressing apparatus surely feeding a knitting yarn to an end yarn treating apparatus for treating an end yarn in a short stroke.
SOLUTION: The flat knitting machine is equipped with the end yarn treating apparatus in the longitudinal direction of each needle bed 5 in at least one of both outer sides thereof, a pull-down apparatus for feeding the end yarn to the end yarn treating apparatus and a yarn pressing apparatus on the needle bed near the pull-down apparatus. The yarn pressing apparatus is provided with a hook type engaging part formed and downwardly opened for engaging a knitting yarn at the tip of a yarn pressing member, a driving part for sliding operated with a cam group of a carriage at the rear and a shaking operation part 35 for vertically shaking the engaging part during advancing, retreating or sliding of the yarn pressing member between the engaging part and the driving part for sliding. The flat knitting machine is composed as follows. After the hook type engaging part of the yarn pressing member is lifted, the knitting yarn is held with the engaging part. When the yarn pressing member holding the knitting yarn is drawn in, the knitting yarn held with the engaging part is held at a lower position than that of the knitting needles of the needle bed.

Three knitting needles 31 with respect to the end portion-knitting needles 31a for knitting both the end portions of the flat cylindrical knitted fabric are detached from the prescribed number, for example, three, needle grooves 34 among the adjacent needle grooves 34 on the outside of the cylindrical knitted fabric. Knitting needles 31b which are not used for knitting the cylindrical knitted fabric and are adjacent to the end portion knitting needles 31a are mounted in the fourth needle grooves 34 from the end portion knitting needles 31a.
